About BAF
BAF works to expand access to psychiatric care, mental-health education, and youth mental-wellness support. We do this through community outreach, referrals to clinical partners, innovation in how care is delivered, and advocacy that reduces stigma.
Learn who we areOur programs are based in Nigeria and also serve the Nigerian diaspora. We maintain offices in Lagos and Washington, DC.
Contact our officesNo. BAF is a foundation, not a clinic. We connect people to licensed clinicians and partner organisations; we do not provide diagnosis, treatment, or emergency care ourselves.
See how to get helpOur programs are shaped together with the communities we serve and informed by clinicians and mental-health professionals who advise the foundation. Community members help decide what is built, and clinical input shapes how it is delivered.
Meet our peopleDignity-first practice guides how we design programs, speak about mental health, and handle personal information. We ask for consent before sharing anything about a person, avoid stigmatising language, and give people choice over how they take part.

Visit our Get Help page and submit a support request. Share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. A team member reviews requests and, where appropriate, points you toward a clinical partner or community resource.
Go to Get HelpNo. BAF is not an emergency service and our website forms are not monitored continuously. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the United States you can call or text 988. Verified crisis lines are listed on the Get Help page.
View crisis resourcesWe maintain relationships with clinical partners and community providers, and we help people navigate toward care that fits their location, language, and circumstances. BAF does not employ clinicians, so any care you receive is provided directly by the clinician or clinic.
Request a referralWe treat support requests as sensitive. Information you share is used to respond to your request, and we only pass details to a partner when it is needed to connect you to care and you have agreed to it. Our Privacy page explains what we collect and how it is handled.
Read the privacy noticeRequests are reviewed by people, not automatically, and response times vary with volume and time zone. Because we cannot guarantee a response window, please do not rely on a website form in an urgent situation — use the crisis resources instead.
View crisis resourcesYes. Many requests come from family members, friends, teachers, and faith leaders. Tell us your relationship to the person and only share what you have their permission to share. Where an adult can speak for themselves, we will usually ask to hear from them directly.

Our work spans community outreach, access to psychiatric care, youth advocacy, and mental-health innovation. Each area combines education, navigation to care, and partnership with local organisations.
Browse programsPrograms are open to the communities they are designed with — including young people, families, schools, faith communities, and community health workers. Specific eligibility depends on the program and its host location.
Browse programsContact us and select the option that matches your organisation. Tell us about your community, the age groups involved, and what you hope the program will address, and our team will discuss what is possible.
Request a programBAF programs are offered to participating communities at no cost to the individual participant. Costs are covered by donors and partners, which is why giving directly widens who we can reach.
See ways to giveSome education and navigation activity happens remotely, and we work with partners who deliver care online. BAF itself does not run a telehealth service, so any clinical appointment is arranged with the provider directly.
Explore innovationWe prioritise places where a local partner is ready to work alongside us and where access to mental-health care is limited. Community interest, partner capacity, and the practicalities of running a program safely all shape the decision.
See our impactMental Health Science, Technology & Innovation
We look for practical ways technology and applied science can widen access to mental-health support — better navigation to care, tools that help community workers, and education that reaches people where they already are.
Explore innovationMindWorks is our youth-facing innovation initiative, where young people work on mental-health challenges in their own communities and build skills in problem-solving, design, and technology alongside mentors.
Learn about MindWorksNo. Sessions are designed for beginners, and curiosity matters more than prior experience. Participants with a technical background are welcome and are often paired with newcomers.
Explore innovationSchools can host a cohort, and technology professionals can contribute as mentors or skills-based volunteers. Get in touch and tell us what you can offer and where you are based.
Get in touchVolunteering
Complete the volunteer interest form and tell us about your skills and availability. We match volunteers to outreach, clinical support, advocacy, and skills-based roles as needs arise.
Volunteer with BAFYes. Anyone contributing in a clinical capacity must hold a current, valid licence in the jurisdiction where they practise, and we verify that before any clinical involvement.
See volunteer rolesYes. Research, design, writing, translation, technology, and mentoring roles can be done remotely, which is how many diaspora volunteers contribute.
See volunteer rolesVolunteers working with children or vulnerable adults go through safeguarding screening appropriate to their role and location before they begin. Safeguarding expectations apply to everyone representing BAF.

We collect what you choose to send us through our forms — such as your name, contact details, and the context of your request — plus basic technical information needed to run the website. Our Privacy page sets this out in full.
Read the privacy noticeSubmissions are stored in access-controlled systems and are seen only by team members who need them to respond. We limit what is shared externally to what is necessary to act on your request.
